--WELCOME TO THE OJIBWE HOUSE
OF MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY WEB SITE.
AS
PART OF THE OJIBWE LANGUAGE PROGRAM AT MSU, A GROUP OF FACULTY AND STAFF ARE
WORKING TO ESTABLISH A STUDENT RESIDENCE IN EAST LANSING THAT WILL PROVIDE THE
STUDENTS WHO LIVE THERE WITH AN IMMERSIVE OJIBWE LANGUAGE ENVIRONMENT.
For more information on the Ojibwe language program at Michigan
State, or to contact the Ojibwe Language instructor, Helen Roy, please
click this link.
Our work is in the planning stages, but is based on "language house" experiences at other colleges and universities. For example, Albion College, in Albion, Michigan, has what they call "I-house." Language majors are required to live in this "international house" for at least one semester. German, French, or Spanish are spoken in one of the three units of I-house.
